Foundations of Jewish Education
At Kane Street Kids, we nurture children's connections to Jewish life, learning, and community. Using the MATAN Katan® curriculum, children explore Jewish traditions, holidays, and values in ways that are joyful, meaningful, and developmentally appropriate.
Celebrating Holidays
Children learn about Jewish holidays through stories, songs, and hands-on experiences that help bring their meaning to life. Shabbat is an important part of our week. On Fridays, we celebrate together during snack time with blessings, songs and expressions of gratitude, creating a shared ritual that brings our classroom community together.
Upholding Values
Our core Jewish values include tzedek (justice), tikkun olam (repairing the world), todah (gratitude), hesed (kindness), and kehilah (community). Children begin to explore these values through everyday experiences as they practice empathy, cooperation, and responsibility.

Hebrew Language Learning
Jewish learning is woven into everyday routines through Hebrew words, prayers, and blessings. During morning meeting, we recite Modeh Ani, a prayer of gratitude for waking up and being present for a new day. Before meals, children learn blessings associated with different foods, connecting everyday experiences with Jewish tradition.
We also incorporate “Hebrew Through Movement” (עִבְרִית בִּתְנוּעָה), an approach that introduces Hebrew vocabulary through movement and play.
Building Community
Our program is enriched by visits from Kane Street Synagogue's clergy, who share stories, traditions, and Jewish learning the with children. These experiences deepen children's connections to Jewish life and the wider synagogue community.
Honoring Every Family
We recognize that every family has its own relationship with Jewish life, practices, and traditions. We strive to create a preschool experience that respects each family's background while offering children meaningful opportunities to engage with Jewish learning and community.
